Spencer has over a decade of experience in insolvency, restructuring and cross-border litigation. Spencer advises clients on a wide range of complex disputes, with specific experience in the financial services, insurance and energy industries. Spencer regularly advises insolvency practitioners, creditors of distressed entities and shareholders. He has managed a number of large litigation matters to trial and frequently assists clients with urgent applications, including, for example, to appoint provisional liquidators. Spencer is an experienced advocate, appearing before the Courts of the Cayman Islands on a regular basis.
Spencer is admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands and was previously admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
In addition to being a Board member of RISA, Spencer is a member of the RISA Education Committee, which he joined in 2019. Spencer is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and a member of INSOL.
